The HBS Model Program
Is it true that I can get a FREE haircut and FREE styling?
Yes! All qualified HBS Model Clients receive FREE haircuts and/or FREE styling from our junior stylists.
How do I become a HBS Model Client?
To register as a HBS Model Client, you must attend Model Call where we will assess your hair to determine suitability for our classes.
Model Call is held about once a week (on Tuesday), and is on an invitation-only basis. Anyone interested in participating is required to, first, sign up for an invitation to Model Call by filling out a pre-evaluation form. Those with hair most-seemingly appropriate for the cuts and seminars we offer will receive a phone call or email.
How does HBS determine if my hair is suitable for a seminar?
At Model Call, a HBS Stylist will evaluate your hair’s condition, length and texture to determine if it is appropriate for the cuts or styles we offer and whether or not the cutting tools we use are suitable for your hair type. It is our goal to ensure that both our junior stylists or junior colorist and clients walk away from the experience as raving fans.
What are the benefits to being a Model Client with HBS Model Project?
- FREE Haircuts
- FREE Styling sessions
- A thorough assessment of your hair to ensure a cut specifically tailored to your features.
- An opportunity to receive discounted Color, for suitable, existing clients who have recently received a haircut with us.
What is a FREE Styling session?
We offer free styling sessions including: the Blow-Dry. Unlike our cutting classes where 6 weeks are needed between sessions, suitable Model Clients are able to use a discount of 50% on color. Styling sessions generally last about two hours.

Can I just get a trim?
No. All models must be open to some change, which will be agreed upon during the consultation.
Will all the haircuts look the same?
We teach techniques, not haircuts. Even if you are booked for a specific type of haircut, such as a graduated bob, it will be tailored specifically to you.
After I attend Model Call how long will I have to wait for my first appointment?
The wait typically varies form a few days to several weeks.
When will my cut or style take place?
All of our cuts, styles and color take place Tuesday or Wednesday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm.

The Color Program
Who is eligible?

What types of color services do you offer?
Our approach to hair color is different – we’ve never been about shade trends or color collections – we simply believe that color should look natural, tasteful and pretty. Our philosophy is based on suitability, so we use makeup artist principles to make creative color choices based on your skin tone, eye color and features.
We offer three classes that use different technical approaches to color, but have the same fundamental intention: to customize color to look best on you, with a natural end result.
- Foil Highlighting
WHAT: Natural highlights in suitable tones that complement skin, eyes and eyebrows
WHO: Models who want natural, beachy, subtle highlights (or lowlights). Great for virgin hair or previous highlights, blondes, redheads brunettes or those with 25% grey or less; Models cannot have had a single process.
- Single Process with Foil Highlighting

WHO: Models who love a little more dimension, contrast, and “less is more” highlights. Great for virgin hair, single processed hair, all kinds of brunettes, redheads, light and dark blondes, or those with 25% grey or less.

Why are your attendance policies so strict?
Our attendance policies are in place to protect our models and our stylist/colorist. When a model fails to attend a class, not only does it leave a student without a model to work with, it also takes away another model’s chance to participate that day. To operate efficiently and provide students and models with the experience they deserve, it is essential that all Model Clients abide by our policies in order to participate.
